Christian Careers Day: Staying Faithful
1 May 2020

#CCD2020 #StayingFaithful #CCD
  • Intro

What are you passionate about in this life? Who are we really working for? Is your calling consistent with the call of God?

Our tagline 'working for Jesus', describes for us that in life we must always be constantly challenged on whether our trajectory actually fits God's plans and purposes for His Kingdom in His Son. Are we heading in the right direction? Or have we unwittingly fallen for worldly desires?

This year Jay Lyn will be considering the theme of 'Staying Faithful', along with two other talks online by two seasoned professionals who will share with you the realities of working in this world and how we can best glorify Christ with our future. Come all young and old, even if you already have a job. Especially if you're a fresh graduate or still in the midst of deciding on your future career, Christian Careers Day is PERFECTLY DESIGNED FOR YOU!

    Ms Kek Jay Lyn

    Kek Jay Lyn

Jay Lyn is currently in her 3rd year of church apprenticeship in a local church in Subang Jaya. Previously, Jay Lyn worked as a senior Public Relations associate with a local agency for 2 years. She holds a Bachelor in Public Relations, Communication and Media Studies from the University of South Australia.

Since young, Jay Lyn is an all-rounder, excelling in both her studies and sports, and has represented the Kuala Lumpur badminton team in high school. Jay Lyn has always wanted to pursue a career in the medical field and even planned to be a doctor. During her college days, Jay Lyn was convicted of the gospel and knew that there was a bigger issue than just sickness on earth and decided to devote her whole life to God which includes forgoing her dreams to be a doctor, to save souls instead.

Jay Lyn now spends most of her weekdays with campus students, teaching the bible and helping them make godly life decisions. On weekends, she also helps lead the youth group and a small group of university students in her church. Knowing the students’ struggle, Jay Lyn is committed to teach and disciple these students to be a faithful follower of Christ.

    Mr Joshua Tay

    Joshua Tay

Joshua is passionate about serving the Lord Jesus Christ. He is a graduate from Imperial College London with a Masters in Biomedical Engineering and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. In his early years of working, Joshua was convicted by the gospel and realized that life was about being completely devoted to God and this included his career choices.

For 3 years, Joshua worked as a management consultant, specializing in people and organisations, serving clients from the oil and gas and banking industries, and even the government. Joshua eventually made a significant career change as his passion for education grew. He is now working as a teacher at Sri KL International School because of his love for working with students. Joshua is also a committed member of his church, serving as a small group leader and communications director in the church's fundraising efforts. Once a year, you will also find Joshua at the Gopeng River, working as a certified lifeguard at an evangelistic camp for youths.

    Ms. Winnie Lai

    Winnie Lai

Winnie is now working as a ministers' apprentice in a local church. She graduated from Monash with a Bachelor in Psychological Science and Business. Upon her graduation, Winnie ran and organize recruitment events for one year in an insurance company and then a Digital Marketing Specialist with experience in developing marketing strategies and managing digital project builds for large international brands for three years.

In university, Winnie never thought that she would be in the marketing field. But after working for a year, she realized the importance and value of marketing in society today and decided to learn it for her church. With no marketing basics, Winnie took the risk to join a marketing agency. In her first year of working, Winnie was faced with a lot of difficulties and pressure at work as she was given huge responsibilities with the little experience and knowledge that she had. Yet Winnie was focused and determined to glorify God by learning this skill for her church.
