The Gospel and Word in Ministry
21-23 Jan 2019

  • Intro

Thinking Theologically Conference 2018 was a wake-up call to take seriously how God has made himself known in the Gospel and His Son’s Word. The threats to the faithful ministry of Jesus Christ had to be recognised, and the call for reformation in practices made.

Since the path to godliness and the growth of God’s church in His ways is by the Word, what then does this mean practically for the multiple opportunities that exist in our urban life for Gospel ministry?

As the follow-up to TTC 2018, Fellow Workers’ Conference 2019 will be focused on applying a healthy theology of how we know God in His Scripture to the practical ministry of His church. If, as was established at TTC 2018, the Scriptures are the authoritative revelation of God, what skills and methods should follow in our carrying out of His work? Most importantly, how will the church reflect this concern and priority in its ethos and culture?

The 12th FWC is dedicated to training God’s people for faithful ministry, particularly in these practical ministry training strands, in which participants will commit to any one of the below:

    • Leading small group Bible studies
    • One-on-one discipleship
    • Preaching
    • Word ministry in music
    • Leading children's ministry

There will also be main sessions available to all, for conference-goers to learn about the following topics:

    • Faithful exegesis in ministry
    • Leading and shepherding the church faithfully
    • Running healthy growth groups
    • Organising gospel-centered word conferences / camps
    • How to lead a university parachurch ministry
    • Faithful ministry to women
    • Faithful kids’ ministry
    • Leading teens and tween in youth ministry (led by Ken Moser via live video feed)
    • How to run a God glorifying gathering of God's people

Along with the practical training strands and theological main sessions, participants will also get to dig deeper on this topic of word ministry together in small groups.

At FWC you will learn how to:

    • Organise and implement various forms of Word ministry effectively
    • Practice effective Christian care over His people
    • Commit to and persevere in Christian ministry
    • Stay faithful to Jesus and His mission

It promises to be a great time of being prepared by God to celebrate the deep relationship between the Gospel and the Word, by learning to be faithful users of God’s Scripture in ministry.
